i appreciate what dove is trying to do, but i think the message at the end of the video was a bit "off." our perception of beauty isn't distorted, there's a reason we find the made-over version of the model more beautiful than the original. we find her smoothed skin, larger eyes, thicker hair, and plumper lips more attractive because they are signs of feminity and health. i think our perception of what's REALISTIC is distorted, not our perception of what's beautiful.

proof that our picture of beauty is fake...

The most devastating moments are from 0:55 to 0:58. when the girl walking by the billboard looks back (in wistfulness? in longing?) at the picture...you know what she is thinking.

The worst thing is you don't even see it...I mean, obviously you can see if a model's skin has been airbrushed- but you can't see they made her eyes look bigger and her neck look longer...if I had just seen the 'after'-pic, I would have thought they photoshopped her skin and put tons of make-up on her, but not all the other stuff

@edgarMCMLXXXI
But women like to hear that they're beautiful, so if they don't hear that they're gonna keep trying to "look more beautiful". They see that guys love girls in magazines so they try and be that...

@LilChaggz True. I quote you: "She was already gorgeous to begin with." She truly was. |
