People are idiots. For hundreds of years there have been mercenaries. There has always been people that are well trained and willing to work for governments. Saying there was no mercenaries during the Geneva Convention is stupid and uninformed.

Ok yeah, there are only some incidents at which black water acted out of context. But for the most part their doing good work. Yes they are paid more than regular soldiers because they are put into more action than regular troops. The US doesn't want to get its hand dirty and have the public hate them when a US soldier gets killed. Innocent people died in 911 and our troops had to be sent there to destroy the root of terrorism however there was not enough hence we need mercs.
